Balance

I was with my tribe today.
They are often far away.
I know them by the smiles they wear
and the silver in their hair.
They don’t belong here,
nor do I,
but now and then we gather up.
We sing, we dance, we fill the cup,
then homeward I, alone, must go.
This is not sad. I like it so.

Three Chains

the iron chain is heavy
a burden on my neck
it binds me to an ancient path
made of blood and bones
the bondage of the tribe
it binds me to my roots
when the storms arise

the chain of jade is mystery
cool green glades
where water drips
into a silent lake
in quiet meditation
alone
i sit
i wait

until the sparkling silver chain
leads me through the dark
it captures midnight stars
with flashing moonlit sparkles
that illuminate my heart
and lead my feet away
along the magic path

The Search

souls,
no longer with a beating heart,
drift in silent patterns now
far apart from memory
at rest in universals dreams they share,
heedless of a when or where,
uncaring of a how or why,
unknowing of the present I

returning to defining space,
given back a mind and face,
what they forget,
and what they know,
is still a shadow in the mind
constellations intertwined
create a tribe invisible,
as searching down the road we go

true foundations are so few
in matters solid, temporal.

when I return,
unknowing what it is I do,
I will find,
along the way,
that I will always
search for you
