Day 4 ~ The Man with Lambs in his Eyes

Today’s prompt was to write a triolet.

A triolet is an eight-line poem. All the lines are in iambic tetrametre (for a total of eight syllables per line), and the first, fourth, and seventh lines are identical, as are the second and final lines. This means that the poem begins and ends with the same couplet. Beyond this, there is a tight rhyme scheme (helped along by the repetition of lines) — ABaAabAB.

But I decided to play with it so I have written a double-triolet and a triad.

The Man with Lambs in His Eyes

the Ocado man came today
the sunshine arrived in his trail
he saw the spring lambs on his way
the Ocado man came today
he’d been watching the spring lambs play
they’d danced all his worries away
the Ocado man came today
and sunshine arrived in his trail

seeing the mirror this morning
I looked deeply into my eyes
I saw a strange sign and a warning
seeing the mirror this morning
no recognised face was forming
it gave me a total surprise
seeing the mirror this morning
I looked into faded dark eyes

the Ocado man came today
with lambs dancing in his eyes
and wiped all my troubles away

Slow Swing Sonnet

If I wouldn’t look like a stalker
I would follow this woman everywhere
Just for the pleasure of looking

Like a hot calypso
A summer rumba
The way she moves her body
Is a slow swing sensuous sonnet
Full of warmth and sunshine
Such grace in every gesture
And her face
Such a smile
It makes my heart race
Just thinking

I wouldn’t presume to pursue her
No more than I’d chase a breeze
but I’m caressed and soothed
by her passing

The Rose Outside the Church

The yellow rose,
like sunshine,
stands outside the door
of the founded, waiting church,
having more to give
than the sermon heard within

To see God, see the rose
From bud to bloom
it follows the sun.
It shines.
You saw it as a child,
this light,
and, though it decompose,
it is a prayer,
a perfume on the air,
a symbol of Gods love
in which we share.

Written in Faith

from the dark the sunshine comes
and fades again to dark
in hope and loving trust we sleep
to greet the kindling spark

time brings change
i do not fear
i accept the hidden path
love is always here

and that is all we need right now,
high upon the bough,
to sit amongst your singing trees
in harmony and peace

Beloved World, take note of us,
thought we are fleeting in your eyes
we have fought to reach this place
the travelling made us wise

Little Rainbow

there’s a rainbow over the hill
in the distance
where I used to play music
with friends
under the trees, by a fire

do the trees remember me still
on quiet Sunday afternoons?

there is gold spilled on the ground,
between sunshine and gentle rain

Good Luck Spell

I give you a daisy chain, sunshine, a star

To brighten your heart and bring you delight

Four leafed clovers, chimney sweeps, double sixes,

Two magpies for joy, happy pixies, shooting stars in the night.

May your new leaf turn over with exuberant ease

And you pancakes flip with vigour, no ceiling stuck plight.

If you ever should find yourself stuck asleep in a box

May your dreams sail with rainbows, in high arching flight.

Now stir gently the white of a golden egg

Into the cauldron, with a big scoop of light,

The scent of wild violets, some fluffy white clouds,

A dollop of love and a sky that is bright.

In short, may all your wildest dreams always come true.

On this wish I will leave you. I wish you adieu.
